Using the essential oils to kill off the bedbugs is simple, safe, and efficient!
Many people choose to use pure essential oils as a topical treatment for bedbugs. A few drops of lavender or rosemary essential oils can be combined with water to make a very light, fragrance free solution. After applying the mixture to the bedbugs, simply leave it on for a few hours. If you need to make a more concentrated solution then pour one part of eucalyptus oil into two parts of carrier oil and then add a third of boiling water to the mixture. Leave it on overnight and the next day vacuum the residual solution away.
Essential oils have long been recognized as an effective treatment for insect bites. By taking advantage of the insecticidal properties of these natural oils you will be able to eliminate the pests from your home with very little effort. Essential oils are a very powerful natural remedy which can effectively help to eliminate bedbugs after just a few uses. Using an unscented carrier oil such as eucalyptus oil is easy and inexpensive. In addition to using the essential oils to kill the bedbugs, you can also use other natural remedies to rid your home of the insects. The following essential oils should be on hand in your kitchen or bathroom: tea tree oil, peppermint oil, lavender oil, eucalyptus oil, oregano oil, marjoram oil and clove oil. These natural essential oils can be used together as a refreshing bath rinse. A few drops of each must be diluted in your bathwater. When mixed with warm water they become highly effective essential oils for bug repelling.
You can also purchase an oil spray that contains both eucalyptus and peppermint. Miconazole, menthol and picrorrhiza are some of the ingredients found in bug spray that contains the strongest odor producing components that cannot be detected by the human nose. These powerful odor producing oils have proven over again to be extremely effective when sprayed directly on bed bug bites. There are other essential oils that work by disrupting the respiratory system of the insect allowing the passage of air to be blocked, this makes it difficult for them to breathe and will ultimately drive them away from the home.
Essential oils like thyme oil, rosemary oil, clove oil and mint oil are all excellent for killing adult mosquitoes. They are very effective for eliminating mosquitoes that have taken refuge inside your house. Other essential oils that have been proven to kill adult mosquitoes include: orange oil, lemon oil, cedarwood oil and wormwood oil. There are different essential oils that work by driving the mosquitoes away or at least annoying them enough to avoid staying near you. They are most effective when they are sprayed directly on mosquitoes. For best results however it is recommended that they be diluted with water first.
When you are learning how to use essential oils for bed bugs you will quickly find out that you will need to spray your home frequently. You can do this yourself or by calling an exterminator to do the job for you. Essential oils will need to be applied throughout the entire room and at least six inches beneath furniture. Apply the sprays in a sweeping motion taking care to spray the wood as well as the wall behind the furniture. Continue spraying the room and the adjacent walls for about four to five hours each day.
Essential oils such as cedarwood, lemongrass, thyme, peppermint and cinnamon are excellent for killing and repelling mosquitoes. These oils are available at health food stores and are usually heavily discounted. While these oils are effective in getting rid of mosquitoes, they are equally effective for getting rid of bed bugs. If you do not want to deal with pesticides then an insecticidal cleaner such as cedarwood, thyme and peppermint essential oils will work just as well.
