Cardamom Essential Oil Research
Studies for the medical benefits is ongoing, but there are scientific study results that have proven cardamom, when mixed with other essential oils, can provide aromatic therapeutic relief for nausea after surgery. A study, called Aromatherapy as Treatment for Postoperative Nausea: A Randomized Trial, published in September of 2013, randomly tested patients recovering from surgery.
It was combined with amounts of ginger, spearmint and peppermint, and it was used aromatically to soothe the nausea of patients recovering from ambulatory surgery. It also reduced the need for antiemetic medications.
The study concluded that essential oils should be used therapeutically with recovering patients, but should also be used with discretion as one would with prescribed medication. The FDA has not approved any of these claims.

Cardamom Essential Oil Substitutes
Cardamom can be used in place of Vick’s Vapo-Rub for respiratory needs. Applying it topically on the chest with a carrier oil can promote clearer breathing and a healthy respiratory system.
It can replace temporary indigestion-relief medicine, such as Tums or Pepto Bismol. Ingesting diluted amounts of it can relieve stomach cramps, and drinking it after a large meal can halt indigestion. It can also relieve an irregular gastrointestinal tract.
For sore muscles, skip the Icy Hot pads, and apply it mixed with a carrier oil to any aching areas, such as legs, feet, arms and shoulders. Avoid skin that is sensitive.
Cardamom Essential Oil Blends Well With
