Essential Oils For Teething Babies

When a baby first receives a pacifier from his or her father or mother, the pacifier is used as a topical treatment of essential oils for teething. Using a pacifier externally during the first few months of life poses little risk to babies, but when babies begin using the pacifier to ease teething symptoms, parents may worry about the safety of internal uses. If you're concerned about the safety of internal uses, there are good reasons to be.

At six months of age, babies have entered into the second trimester of their pregnancy and are experiencing their first symptoms of labor. Although most doctors will recommend wait and watch to see if teething pain is likely to occur, many expectant mothers strive to ease the baby's discomfort with external applications. While many essential oils for teething are suitable for use in external applications, you should be careful about using them around your baby. Essential oils are undiluted and pure and can cause serious damage to the sensitive mucus membrane that covers the sensitive intestines, tongue, throat and stomach.

In addition to internal application, you can also use essential oils on the baby's bottom and head to relieve his or her teething pain. The head and bottom should be washed only in lukewarm water; soap and other harsh ingredients should be avoided. A small amount of baby shampoo can be gently applied to the baby's bottom before bathing, as long as it is meant for baby. Always dilute the shampoo by following the package directions.

Although you don't need to bathe the baby, it may help to do so at least a couple of times each month. When bathing, make sure to remove all soap and rinsing products from the bottom of the tub or the baby's body before soaking. For three to six months old children, a simple potpourri mixture of dried flowers, onions, marjoram, basil leaves, mint leaves, a quarter cup of distilled water, rosemary leaves, and sweet marjoram can be very effective. Use this blend of oils to soothe and calm the baby.

A good essential oils for babies and mothers alike are fractionated coconut oil and aloe vera. These plants contain many healing properties. For example, they have antibacterial, antifungal, antiviral, anti-bacterial, and insect repellent properties. If you have a bathtub, you can add a few drops of these plant extracts to it. It is especially soothing when used after bathing. If using a diffuser, you can add a blend of coconut oil and fractionated coconut oil.

Other uses for essential oils include: cooking, cleaning, massage and aromatherapy. If you want to use a carrier oil, it can be a great way to combine different types of oils without adding extra heat. A few drops of lavender oil added to almond milk makes a wonderful substitute for baby soap.

Using essential oils for teething is a fun activity for both you and your baby. When using them, it is a good idea to be gentle and only apply small amounts at a time. If using the carrier oil, be sure it is pure, not fractionated. For maximum benefits, dilute the oil with carrier oil before applying it to the skin. When you are finished applying the essential oils, leave them on for a few minutes to allow maximum absorption.

Essential oils for teething babies are a safe and effective way to ease the symptoms of infants who are teething. They are gentle to the skin and provide numerous therapeutic benefits. For maximum benefits, dilute the oils with carrier oil before applying to the skin. To prevent the baby from licking the lips, you can add a bit of peppermint extract to the blend. When the lips are dry and chapped, apply a generous amount of blend to the lips to soothe them and help alleviate inflammation.
