Additional Information

Essential Oils For Pms

If you've never heard of them, essential oils are highly volatile, concentrated liquid-based oils derived exclusively from aromatic plants which are usually used in aromatherapy, makeup, herbal medicines, shampoos, natural skin care products, and/or as pure plant-based ingredients on the skin. These plant essences are extracted from the stems, leaves and roots. These oils are rich in vitamin E and essential fatty acids. Essential oils have been used for centuries to assist in relaxation, as well as for medical treatment of a variety of health concerns including: headaches, depression, anxiety, nausea, sore throat, motion sickness, sinusitis, sore gums, tuberculosis, oral malodor, stress, and even cancer.

Lavender has long been recognized as a popular "ents" scent, and for good reason. A refreshing, citrusy aroma, it soothes the soul and energizes the body. A powerful antiseptic and anti-inflammatory, lavender essential oils can soothe insect bites, relieve sunburn, freshen the breath, and treat a number of respiratory ailments. Other uses include: to help soothe cuts and scrapes, relieve athlete's foot, treat candida, act as a natural anti-inflammatory, repel dust mites, treat herpes, treat lice, treat nail fungus, heal minor burns, heal minor dental problems, treat nasal congestion, and soothe the sick. Lavender oil is also effective in treating depression and general anxiety disorders.

Jasmine essential oils help to calm irritated and itchy muscles. It relieves migraine headaches, migraines, restlessness, insomnia, moodiness, mood swings, irritability, restlessness, nervousness, restless leg syndrome, tremors, and other emotional and physical symptoms associated with premenstrual syndrome. It is also very effective for soothing sore throats and coughs associated with cold and flu symptoms. It is a natural anti-inflammatory, and works well to treat skin irritation from sunburn, sun damaged skin, eczema, boils, rashes, insect bites, acne, varicose veins, shingles, and other conditions.

Eucalyptus and spearmint oils can soothe inflammation, and have been used historically for their healing and health-giving properties. Eucalyptus is an anti-inflammatory, antiseptic, sedative, analgesic, stimulant, and anti-viral agent. Spearmint oil contains terpinen-4-ol which serves as an anti-microbial, anti-inflammatory, anti-septic, antibacterial, antiviral, and anti-fungal agent. Using essential oils for aromatherapy is safe, effective, and economical.

Essential oils diffusers are fast becoming popular for treating conditions such as Pityriasis Capasa, which is caused by fungal infections in the scalp. Essential oils diffusers work by dispersing the oil over the air, allowing it to be breathed in by the user. Essential oils are dispersed through the use of a bulb syringe, balloon, or cap. Other methods include using aerosol cans and jars, or using a diffuser that has a built-in fan.

Essential oils work well as natural remedies because they contain strong natural carrier agents that are easily absorbed by the body. Many essential oils are naturally fragrant, so they are often used to scent candles and other household items. Other oils are sold in bottles that contain a carrier agent that absorbs the aroma when the oil is inhaled. For instance, lemon essential oil diffuses naturally when the oil passes through warm air.

Essential oils are available in several different grades. The highest grade is the purest, since it contains the most amount of essential oil. Less pure essential oils do not have the same therapeutic effects as the more highly concentrated ones. A high grade carrier oil blend well with highly concentrated essential oils is preferred for use as a natural remedy because the carrier oil does not add to the oil's therapeutic strength. For example, a highly concentrated lemon essential oil is combined with a carrier oil such as coconut oil to create a very effective treatment for chronic dry scalp.

To apply the oil to your scalp, dab a small amount on your fingertips, massage into the scalp, leave for five minutes, then rinse thoroughly. Essential oils can also be used topically to treat a variety of conditions, including head lice, dandruff, head lice eggs, ringworm, dermatitis, eczema, headaches, insomnia, athlete's foot, irritable bowel syndrome, nausea, peanut butter, skin problems, sinus problems, and many other conditions. A common mix for these topical applications is equal parts shea butter and avocado oil. Other oils that work well as a treatment include almond oil, jojoba oil, sweet almond oil, sesame seed oil, olive oil, sweet almond oil, and grapeseed oil.
