Essential Oils For Mucus

Many people have heard of essential oils, but are less familiar with the benefits they provide. Aromatherapy seeks to deliver calming and refreshing properties to the user, using natural botanical ingredients as a foundation for creating a therapeutic experience. Aromatherapy is a complex process that requires great attention to detail. Creating a right blend of essential oils can be difficult.

All essential oils share a common trait: they have antibacterial properties. They are able to penetrate the membranes of the nasal passages and lymph nodes to reach the bloodstream and lymph cells, where they are able to act on both the offensive and defensive aspects of bacteria, viruses and fungi. The properties of essential oils vary widely from one plant to the next. It takes great care, however, when selecting a particular blend for a particular ailment.

One of the benefits of essential oils for the nasal mucus is that they soothe inflammation. When mucous membranes become inflamed, they produce more mucus, which in turn clogs airway passages. This can lead to a condition called postnasal drip, which consists of mucus accumulating around the nose and throat. Postnasal drip interferes with breathing, which can result in symptoms like sore throat, hoarseness and cough. By inhaling the steam distilled from tea tree oil, a person can relieve and prevent postnasal drip. Essential oils work particularly well when used in combination.

Another benefit of essential oils is that they prevent and fight respiratory infections, such as sinusitis and acute bronchitis. Viral infections spread through the air by means of anaerobic bacteria. These bacteria thrive in conditions where there is a low level of oxygen and body fluids are saturated with oxygen. Tea tree oil has anti-bacterial and anti viral properties, which makes it useful against these types of infections. The oil is also effective in fighting against irritants in the air, thus reducing or eliminating symptoms of asthma and allergies. In fact, most natural medicine experts agree that it is one of the best remedies for asthma and allergies.

Essential oils for nasal inhalers provide relief from congestion brought about by allergies, rhinitis (chronic inflammation of the nose), and other respiratory conditions. Because the oil blends relieve respiratory congestion, sinusitis and acute bronchitis can be treated. These conditions can be very painful and can inhibit normal activity. Essential oils for nasal inhalers can be used in a drop or a gargle, which makes it quick and easy to administer to a patient.

A third application for these blends is in the form of cineole. Cineole is a volatile oil that is extracted from the tea tree. It is a powerful anti-inflammatory agent, which provides relief from swelling and mucus production in the respiratory system. While it is usually applied as an ointment, it can also be taken in capsule form for easier absorption through the lining of the digestive tract.

Essential oils for nose congestion are useful against colds and flu, but they can also provide relief from other conditions and diseases. For instance, lavender and eucalyptus oils are good for soothing sinusitis symptoms, because they can increase the amount of nasal airway fluid. Rosemary and marjoram are effective against chronic sinus congestion, because they remove mucus buildup and encourage the growth of healthy cells. Other best essential oils for nose congestion include basil and clove oil, because they have strong anti-inflammatory properties and can help fight off bacteria in the nose.

When using essential oils for nasal congestion, remember that each mix can be made differently, depending on the type of symptoms you're trying to relieve. You should always test a new recipe by using only a small amount first, so that you don't get any adverse reactions. If you find that none of the essential oils are working, try making a separate mixture from another source, such as vinegar or apple cider vinegar. This will dilute the potency and provide your body with a natural remedy against mucus buildup.
