Essential Oils For Facial Steamer

There are so many essential oils out there that you may be overwhelmed trying to decide which one is right for your particular skin care needs. A facial steamer may seem like a strange choice when it comes to facial care, but these devices have been steadily growing in popularity for several years. They are convenient and easy to use - they're really just like taking a warm, wet face cloth and gently massaging the essential oil into your skin. If you aren't quite sold yet, keep reading to find out more!

I used to think that I'd be fine just using my common shampoo and conditioner on my face. However, I started seeing signs of aging even with the best care, such as my hair becoming dry and brittle, my skin looking rough around the cheeks and forehead, and my face beginning to look more like an old photograph than a youthful face. I was also waking up with unexpected flashes of red in my otherwise smooth face, and my skin tone was uneven from my earlier treatment that left me with a cool tanned glow. I decided that a facial steamer might be the answer to getting all of this under control.

I purchased my first steamer a few years ago and have been thoroughly enjoying it ever since. It's so easy to use - all you do is add water to the container, turn on the hot setting, and pour in your chosen essential oil. Depending on what you prefer - a tea tree oil scent or lavender orchid - the steam will vary from person to person. In my case, it worked well to freshen and invigorate my face with freshness and invigoration at the same time.

The steaming also helps to reduce redness and swelling around the eyes and mouth. If you notice any puffy eyes after using the steam, just give your face a quick pat to reduce the tension. You'll also see an improvement in the way your face feels overall. You'll notice that your skin no longer feels rough and dry after using a steamer.

Of course, not all essential oils are suited for use with steamers. Some are best applied directly to your skin in a warm, damp cloth. Be careful about the oils you choose though - some may cause allergic reactions and/or irritation if they aren't specifically formulated for use with steamers. Peppermint oil is one oil I wouldn't recommend trying to use directly on your face because of the pungent smell and the inflammation it can cause. A good alternative is to add a small amount to your bath water and soak your face in the solution.

I've also used essential oils straight from my candles. For me, that's the ultimate in convenience because it allows me to infuse my bathwater with my favorite aromas at the same time. If you're going the route of straight home use, be sure to choose carefully. Make sure to check the label carefully - some candles can have different scents added to them at the distillation process. Aromatherapy scented candles are perfect for this purpose because they usually have many of their essential oils already infused in them.

Steam rooms are great for cleansing the body. You can purchase products at your local health and wellness store or online that contain essential oils to help you get ready for your first experience. If you have a nice clean bathroom space, it won't take long to do an extraction with your steamer. Be sure to wear rubber gloves and eye goggles to protect your eyes and body as you work the oil into the tincture.

As you can see, there are many ways to use essential oils. Experiment and figure out what works best for you. Essential oils are natural and great for your health. Just remember, they must be used properly. And, as always, if you suspect something isn't right, don't use it.
